MindSpace requires four new trustees, who will help to set the strategic direction and shape its future at a crucial time for the charity. The current vacancies are for:

Finance Trustee: An accredited accountant who can help lead the charity from a financially stable position into growth.

HR Trustee: A HR professional who can support with contracts, HR processes and enabling MindSpace to be the best employer it can be to our team.

Fundraising Trustee: To help with the short, medium and long-term strategy with a clear experience of charitable fundraising, including implementing a fundraising strategy at different levels of contribution.

We’ve also developed our garden as a community asset for Stamford. The board has ensured the charity maintains a professional and positive reputation as it undertakes its charitable mission, and we have supported more people year on year. A highlight was winning Team of the Year at the 2023 Mercury Business Awards which recognised the hard work and invaluable contribution our board made, alongside the achievements made by staff and volunteers.’

Why join MindSpace as a trustee?

Becoming a charity trustee is a fantastic way for an individual to connect with their local community and gain personal satisfaction in doing something meaningful in their spare time.

  • You’ll have a positive impact on the lives of people in and around Stamford.
  • Have a close liaison with the MindSpace team and wider volunteer network.
  • Work with a board of likeminded people who share their knowledge, time and enthusiasm.
  • Gain personal fulfilment and enjoyment at making a difference.
  • Support and believe in the role of Stamford’s community.
  • The knowledge that you have helped a charity to evolve and increase its reach.

Could you come on board and make a difference?

Each member of the trustee Board at MindSpace is a volunteer with each person bringing their individual expertise, experience and insight to the governance of the charity.

Chris Young, who joined the board in 2024 as the trustee overseeing the MindSpace Wellbeing Garden says: ‘It is a fascinating experience and a truly rewarding one. Not only do you learn about the local area – how it functions, what it needs, what the community wants – but it also means you can help a charity deliver its work. The MindSpace Garden is an essential tool in our mission to help people’s mental health, and to be there for people when they need us. For me, as someone who works full-time, being a trustee is the most rewarding part of my life.’

Getting involved

MindSpace is a small local charity which means that trustees can have a hands-on role in the operations of the charity, particularly their specific area of interest. As well as attending monthly meetings, trustees support the team with events and engage with volunteers and/or the wider community.

Of the requirements of the role, journalist Sue Parslow who is stepping down now her term as Communications Trustee has come to an end shared: ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the team at MindSpace. I feel honoured to have played a role in spreading the word about what the charity has to offer, the wide range of helpful activities it runs, and in encouraging locals to support our fundraising appeals.’
