Wellbeing Garden

Stamford's Wellbeing Garden

MindSpace is a Stamford-based charity with the vision to improve the wellbeing of the people of Stamford by offering groups and activities for the community. The Wellbeing Garden is an important part of the MindSpace vision.

Contact and active engagement with our natural environment has proven beneficial effects on all of us, and it was with this in mind that the Garden was developed. It is a space in which to nurture emotional health and wellbeing via connection to the outdoor world.

This now beautiful area was adopted by MindSpace in 2019, then a derelict waste ground. Volunteers, donors, community groups and businesses have gifted many hours of their time and resources to turn it in to what it is today.

The Garden is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone to visit and enjoy its beautiful and peaceful environment.

Our volunteers say...

‘I am enjoying my volunteering role as it provides many opportunities to get involved in a variety of activities and events throughout the year.  The training, support and recognition given to us all makes me feel a valued member of a dedicated team.’

‘Our garden provides so many opportunities for the local community to enjoy, with spaces to grow produce, learn new skills, art sessions, tea & chat, or just visiting and enjoying the peace and beauty at a time to suit. The garden provides health benefits for us all.’

‘MindSpace has helped me to meet and interact with people, make new friends and start learning new skills with the support I need. The garden help out group helps me feel like I am part of society rather than feeling isolated, and the volunteers there are helping me to learn new skills and develop socially with everyone.’

‘The Garden has given me somewhere to go… I come down here and enjoy the space on the weekend too. I enjoy planting and growing in my patch and I’ve made new friends down there, and have someone to talk to when things are hard. The Garden has opened up a whole new life for me – I thought I would be sat at home on my own forever. It showed me you just need to get out and meet people.’
