MindSpace explores interest in a Men’s Shed for Stamford

11 June 2025

Would you be interested in having a Men’s Shed in Stamford?

MindSpace is hosting a community meeting to gauge interest in the idea in collaboration with Men’s Sheds UK.

MindSpace is looking to support a Shed aimed at creating a welcoming, relaxed, community space where men can form friendships and share and learn skills.

There are thousands of Men’s Sheds across the UK, supporting men’s health and wellbeing. While there are Sheds around Peterborough, near Oakham and Bourne, there is no such space in Stamford.

Each Shed is unique but often includes woodworking, metalworking, repairs, gardening and community projects. They provide a place for men to talk, connect and have fun, while developing and using practical skills with a shared purpose.

Mens Sheds UK said : “UKMSA, the UK Men’s Sheds Association, are delighted that MindSpace Stamford are gathering support for a Shed to support mental health and wellbeing in Stamford and further afield. Men’s Sheds encourage people to come together to make, repair and repurpose, supporting projects in their local communities and improving wellbeing, reducing loneliness and combatting social isolation.”

Pip Tiffin from MindSpace says: “The ethos of Men’s Sheds is very much aligned to that of MindSpace, and we’re keen to support the setup of a Stamford-based shed.”

This first meeting is designed to explore local interest with MindSpace facilitating the conversation to learn more about the needs and wants of the community.
