Beat the end-of-summer blues with a family-friendly charity quiz trail!
How well do you know your way around Stamford? Here’s your chance to find out… and enter a prize draw to win an annual family pass for Burghley House’s Hide & Secrets Adventure Play and Sculpture Garden!
For the second year running, MindSpace Stamford are running a one day only ‘Stamford Treasures Trail’ fundraiser challenge event, taking place on Sunday 15th September. The event will raise funds to support wellbeing and positive mental health in Stamford and give local people the chance to test their knowledge of what’s around. Whether you are up for a bit of a challenge, or you fancy a fun afternoon with the family, this is just what you need to beat the post-holiday blues!
Former poet laureate Scott Coe has again composed the clues to the trail which will lead participants on an exploration of Stamford and its historical or interesting locations and attractions. In addition, well-known local artist Karen Neale is contributing a sketched map of the area covered by the trail.
The Stamford Treasures Trail will take place between 10am and 2pm and people will be able to choose a longer route with more destinations or a shorter town-centre based quiz, more accessible and suited to families with younger children. The challenge begins at the orange MindSpace stand which will be located centrally on the High Street in Stamford and you can arrive any time between 10am and 1pm to collect your quiz trail sheet and begin the fun!
For £5 per person for pre-paid tickets (children under 18 go free with an adult ticket), participants will receive a trail programme with quiz questions and map. Entries on the day are £6. All entries returned to MindSpace by 2pm will be entered into a prize draw to win an annual family pass to Burghley House’s Hide & Secrets Adventure Play (including admittance to the Sculpture Garden and Garden of Surprises).
Beka Avery, chairperson of MindSpace Stamford, says she hopes the Stamford Treasures Trail will be a big success again this year and enable families, couples and solo individuals to enjoy a couple of hours exploring what Stamford has to offer, whilst at the same time raising money to support wellbeing in the town.
“People had so much fun on the quiz trail last year, and we hope that many more join in this time round. Stamford people are great at rallying for good causes and MindSpace is so appreciative of that. We wanted to create another fun trail to make it easy for Stamfordians to get involved in helping us, and at the same time have a chance to appreciate our beautiful and historical town in a really fun way.”
Karen Neale, renowned local artist who is a long-term supporter of MindSpace, offering open-to-all sketching sessions on a regular basis to the charity, says she is delighted to be involved with the Treasures Trail project again.
“When MindSpace asked if I would contribute the Treasures Trail map again, I was pleased to be able to help. MindSpace sessions are very much part of my life and I get as much enjoyment from them as I hope the participants do! The trail is looking like a really fun weekend activity, which I am looking forward to joining with my family.”
MindSpace’s Stamford Treasures Trail will take place on Sunday 15th September between 10am and 2pm.
