Home Health Check – Money Saving Event

Home Health Check – Money Saving Event

14 November 2025

MindSpace is hosting special event with local experts to offer free advice on household costs and budgeting before Christmas

People will be able to get free trusted expert advice to help with household budgeting and saving before Christmas.

Mental wellbeing charity, MindSpace will be hosting a special pop-up event, including a Q&A session, with local experts to help people get their household costs and outgoings streamlined, and future planning organised. The idea is to give people an opportunity to find areas where they could save money, make more of the products they pay for, and make informed decisions about bills, insurance and estate planning.

Due to the wealth of information out there on these topics, this event aims to help people feel less overwhelmed, especially in the lead up to Christmas when money can be tight and financial strains can take a toll on people’s mental health.

Local experts offering free advice

MindSpace has teamed up with local, trusted experts including estate agent Ellie Hinton-Bardwell, Mortgage advisor Nicola Benton of Choice Mortgages, Erica Cave, an authorised partner with Utilities Warehouse, and estate planning consultant Megan Dugdale of W&P Legal.

Nicola Benton says: “This is for anyone who wants to ask questions about their personal and household finances. The aim is to help build confidence in managing monthly costs, develop budgeting skills and identify ways to reduce overall expenses. We can share practical tips on how to save money and provide information for further advice, support and resources.”

Ellie Hinton-Bardwell says: “We want to provide a safe and welcoming space for individuals and families who may need advice, guidance, or simply someone to talk to about their household finances and future as the Christmas season approaches. We aim to remind everyone that they are not alone, no matter how hard things may feel; there is always help and hope available.”

Extra help before Christmas

It will be a friendly and informal event at MindSpace, where you can pop in, have a warm drink, a piece of cake, and walk away with valuable information. For those who need to bring young children, there will be a small quiet space where little ones can be occupied for a short spell.

Everyone who attends in person will get a chance to win a £100 Love2Shop voucher, another bonus before Christmas.

When people sign up, there is a chance to ask a question which the experts will address during the Q&A session.

Opens: 9.30am – 12noon
