2020, what a year!

2020, what a year!

18 December 2020

It’s the end of the year and what a year it’s been! We’ve opened our new premises, promptly closed them and re-opened them again – although with Covid restrictions on numbers and movement in place.

There has still been plenty going on with our shift from face-to-face events to an online offering. Our wellbeing garden project is also taking shape and we’re hoping to be able to start offering activities there from spring 2021. You may also have seen that we’ve been running a mental health journaling project in our local schools with Art Pop-Up. Over 2,700 pupils and staff are involved in using journals as a means to express feelings about mental health and explore the 5 ways to wellbeing.

The end of 2020 also brings us to the end of our contracts with both Kevina and Pip. Kevina has decided to take some time for herself and, if you’ve seen her you may have noticed, Pip is expecting a baby which is due in Spring 2021. We’ve offered Pip a further 3-month contract through to the end of March and will be looking to recruit a new contractor from January. I’m sure you will all join us in thanking them for their hard work and dedication and in wishing them well for their new journeys.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our members and volunteers for their contributions. MindSpace would be nothing without our members who participate in our events and our volunteers and activity leaders who support them.

We know that many of you have been unable to attend over this difficult period, either due to Covid concerns or because the activities you attend have had to be cancelled. Hopefully we’ll be able to get back to ‘normal’ at some point in 2021 and we very much look forward to welcoming you back.

Merry Christmas to you all – here’s to a peaceful and ‘normal’ 2021!
