MindSpace Mindfulness 8 week course

When is the course?

Wednesday evenings 6-8pm, starting 13th September

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the ability to focus on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting ones feelings, thoughts and bodily sensations.

Why practice Mindfulness?

Mindfulness helps us work more skilfully with stress and anxiety and helps us to respond more kindly towards ourselves and others. It can improve sleep and general levels of wellbeing.

How does it work?

By practicing the technique of noticing the wandering mind and coming back to the present moment. Energy follows focus. Over 8 x 2 hour sessions, once a fortnight,  you are taught how to notice what your mind does habitually: the mind wanders, you will learn techniques to bring it back to the present moment, which is the only moment there ever is. You will learn to be allowing, curious and above all, kind.

Who runs the sessions?

Gavin Breeze qualified as a compassion-based mindfulness teacher with The Mindfulness Association. He has been practicing meditation for 50 years. He is also a qualifed Yoga teacher.

Other information:

Self Acceptance is a key part of the course, learning to accept the diverse range of our inner experience. On the course you will learn to work with emotions that arise. Participants develop the capacity to acknowledge and come to terms with thoughts and emotions by paying them close attention with a kind and inclusive attitude.

Gavin will explain more about this at the first session on September 13th.

Don’t worry if this doesn’t feel like the right time for you, we may be able to offer another course in the New Year if there is sufficient demand.

And of course you are very welcome to join the Tuesday morning drop in classes which are continuing.

Please be aware that mindfulness teachers are not therapists. MindSpace can suggest other options if needed.
